The World is Getting Smaller

For those of you who receive the BASES digest, you may be interested to know that this week’s issue comes to you from the Westin in Taipei. Last week - the Luxor in Vegas. It got me thinking of other cities from which I’ve sent out the BASES digest over the last couple of years, which include Palo Alto (of course), Denver, New York and Sydney (and others that I can’t recall right now).

Sometimes you just have to sit back and see how far technology has come in the last 10 years. The fact that I can be sending out an email newsletter about events happening in Silicon Valley (one of my favourite places in the world), but at the same time be physically located in whatever random city my work happens to take me, all for very little cost, is quite amazing.

It may not seem like it, since we take this kind of universal connectivity for granted these days. But try and imagine back to the early/mid 90’s when you didn’t have access to the internet - and trying to achieve something similar. It wasn’t that long ago you know…
